1st Anniversary: Paper

It’s our first anniversary today! A very happy and exciting day. Brian and I ended up being able to celebrate in a few special ways:

1. We spent last week in beautiful Oaxaca, Mexico visiting our friend Megan, along with our friends Matt and Tim. We had a blast. More on that from me later. Or, you can find about our adventures directly from Matt on Megan’s blog now. (I highly recommend it, since it's much funnier and in much more detail than I will write about it.)

2. On Saturday our friends Sam and Kerstin got married in Grand Lake. (Yay Sam and Kerstin!) Since it was the same weekend Brian and I got married last year it felt extra poetic. The sun was shining like it was (for the most important moments) last year and the leaves were once again at their golden peak. It was gorgeous, and we felt lucky to celebrate our friends’ love and commitment to each other while happily celebrating our own first year of marriage right in all that autumn mountain glory.

3. We decided that since paper is the traditional first-year anniversary gift, we would get each other the most special paper possible…our actual wedding certificate! Yes, that’s right folks: our little secret is out. Brian and I, while spending all our energy and focus on the ceremony and party last year, we never managed to acquire the official certificate. Soooo, we decided to get governmentally married on our anniversary! And I’m happy to say we’ve proven that NEITHER of us have commitment issues after all, and we just got back from the city clerk’s office with our certificate in hand. It was a pretty fun way to spend our anniversary lunch together. I’m also happy to report that after 13 years of friendship, 6-7 years of dating, and 1 year of marriage; I still feel like the luckiest girl around.

Tonight we'll celebrate even more traditionally by having dinner at our favorite restaurant.

To LOVE, y’all!

So what does that mean, no certificate? Have you been living in sin for the last year???
